Inconvenient Watched

I finally got around to watching An Inconvenient Truth the other night.

"But Daaaaave", you say, "as a dyed-in-the-wool, granola-crunching, tree-hugging liberal...didn't you see it when it hit the theAYters?"

Yeah, I wanted to go. But unfortunately, I find many of my liberal bretheren somewhat clueless. It's easy to drone on and on about some subject that one has latched onto...and this is what many of them do. The topic of Global Warming is far too serious a subject for droneous verbeage.

George Clooney mentioned in a recent Rolling Stone Interview that being a liberal "...makes us lousy debaters".

This is not a very good description of me. My opinions are formed from reading scientific reports in scholar-level, peer-reviewed journals, and first-hand knowledge, not from 24-hour news or Newspapers with reporters of dubious IQ's.

...and that's why I stayed away from An Inconvenient Truth for so long. I did not want to go in and watch a movie that could possibly be filled with generalities and shmarm.

It was NOT what I expected.

Finally, someone laid the truth, and the facts out on the table for all to see. Hooray for Al Gore.

Scientists have known for decades that something was happening in our atmosphere. Whether it was a natural occurring event is all that was debatable up until the last 5 or 6 years...and data that's coming from sattelite studies of the North Atlantic current and the loss of Glaciers, Arctic, and Antarctic Ice (that sits ABOVE SEA LEVEL or OVER LAND) have made this a problem that we CAN NO LONGER AFFORD TO IGNORE.

Prior to seeing the flick...all the negative emails and right-winged chatter about Gore and An Inconenient Truth was annoying...now it's just plain pissing me off. The level of total disregard that these people have for anyone but themselves astounds me.

I'm more convinced than ever that we need to allow the Greatest Country in the world to be governed by people who give a damn about US and our planet...I just wish there was more I could do.

If you have not seen it yet...you should.
