My Thoughts on the Inauguration

Dianne Feinstein is obviously reading from a page....didin't anyone teach her how to read a teleprompter...."Sweet Victory of this hour..." this was an excellent line.

I wonder how many times we are going to hear the words "God Bless America Today"

Couldn't help but notice the BOO or two when Rick Warren took the stage....and was almost waiting for him to segue into the serenity prayer...for a second there.

One day all nations and all people will stand accountable before you....except gay folks that is.

Here are my impressions of Obama's speech in real time as it was happening. (forgive the typos)

"Yet every so often the oath is taken among gathering clouds"...warming up to the pallor of the speech...here it comes.

"Remain true to...our founding documents"...a shot out to those of strict constructionist views of our founding.

"OUR collective failure to make hard choices"...this is going to be a call to arms to all Americans, he is rallying the people...this is grass roots saber rattling of the most civec-minded variety.

"Proclaim an end to the...false dogmas...recriminations...the time has come to set aside childish things"...THIS GUY IS UNBELIEVABLY GOOD AT WHAT HE DOES.

The notion of earning greatness is something not heard since JFK

Caling up the Veterans of the past...he is embracing the notions of FIGHTING FOR FREEDOM so popular among those on the right...and that has been the unheralded reality of so many on the left

He talks about work...and then follows that up with the notion of acting.

He speaks in problems and then solutions for thos problems...reminds me of the notion that if you bring up a problem without a solution...then you are a part of that problem.

"Not whether our govermnent is too big or too small...but whether it works, and if it doesn't work,...then it [the program] will end".: This is a novel idea that is long past it's due.

VERY NICE with the line about defense...and how it is false that we should give up freedoms...for it.

"America is a friend of every nation...and we are ready to lead once more"....Bush Looks pissed.

"You cannot outlast us and we will defeat you"....he is laying it out on the line, a warning to enemies of the world...expect an Osama Bin Laden tape in the next couple of days.

"Our common humanity will reveal itself"...our, our , our, we, we , we , we!

I was wondering if he would address the Islamic world....and he did...."not what you destroy but what you build"....this is going to piss of the right wingers...but it is exactly what our Gov't HAS NOT been saying for the last 8 years. THANK GOD!!

Nother shout out to the Veterans and the soldiers...drawing out their existance into a greater cause.

WOW! This one is going down in history as one of the greatest inaugural speeches in history...DAMNED BOYEEE!

I love the reference to his father not being able to be served in a Restaurant...but it wasn't 60 years ago....only 40 years in most of the South.

"That we did not turn back nor did we falter"...There are going to be several sound bites that our children's kids will be listening to in school.
